About Me

I have been working as an applied performance psychologist for almost 15 years and in that time have had the opportunity (& pleasure!) of working with an eclectic mix of elite and non-elite performers ranging from musicians to current British Championship cage Fighters and International Dressage riders. And in my experience, whatever the level of activity or competition, the partnership between the psychologist and the performer is key to success.

After completing my Undergraduate, Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), and Master's degree at Loughborough University between 1988 and 1993, I initially worked as Head of Physical Education at an 11-18 school in North London for just over five years before moving on to the University of Greenwich where I took up my current position as a Senior Lecturer in Sport & Exercise Psychology in April 1999.

In my applied experience I have been extremely fortunate to work with a plethora of athletes at all levels of competition. A snapshot of this is listed below:

I travelled extensively with a top 50 WTA tennis player for seven years, and worked with many of the top GB female tennis players between 2001 and 2009, culminating in sport psychology support at eight consecutive Wimbledon Grand slam events.

Employed by Kent CCC as the Academy and 1st team Sport Psychologist since 2001 and have worked with many young players who are now on the full time professional staff.

Employed by the Football Association (FA) as the Sport Psychologist at the National Women's Player Development Centre (NWPDC) at Loughborough University, working with scholars who represented England between Under 17 to full Senior International ; many of which were involved at the World Cup in 2011.

Lead Sport Psychologist for AASE (Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence) at Loughborough, working with England Netball (U17, U19) Rugby League professionals (Leeds Rhinos, Bradford Bulls, Castleford Tigers, Hull KR, Hull KC) and UK Athletics.
